ADDers often have a warped sense of time. We don't judge time very well, and can often "hyperfocus" on something and lose track of time completely.
Erin (my partner) informed me today that she has a decoding system for figuring out my "ADD time." For example, if we need to go do something and I say "gimme a minute," it really means "I'll be there in 20 minutes."
Here's the chart Erin made:
Jen's ADD Time
1 minute = 20 minutes
5 minutes = 30 minutes
10 minutes = 45 minutes
30 minutes = all night
So if it's time to go to bed and I say "I'll be there in half an hour," Erin will go to bed without me, knowing that I'll be hyperfocusing for a lot longer than half an hour.
Interesting, huh? This came as a total shock to me. I had no idea!
