The Top 5 Keys to Managing Adult ADD
5. Live out Loud. If you don't think you can achieve, you can't. If you're afraid to fail, you miss out on learning some valuable stuff about the world, and yourself.
4. Become Organized Enough to Reach Your Goals. Manage your time just well enough to do what you need and want to do. Organize your physical spaces just well enough so that you can find what you're looking. Don't waste your time trying to be an expert in these areas because it's not going to happen.
3. ADDjust Your Attitude. Sure, you have challenges. Everyone does. Choose to focus on what's going well. The way to get ahead is to build on successes.
2. Work With Your ADD, Not Against It. Stop trying to do things the way everyone else does. Do what works for you and stop caring about what you think everyone thinks about you.
1. Break the Cycle of Overwhelm. Stress management = ADD management. When you're calm, peaceful and centered, time management, focus, follow through and all those other challenges become much easier to deal with.
If this list resonates with you or you want to find out more, then stay tuned! My book on managing adult ADD is coming out this summer!

Good post. I've definitely learned to live out loud - and blogging is a great outlet.

Numbers 4 and 2 strike a chord with me. I stopped worrying about my office tidiness as soon as I could get out of a public office area. Now I use the prospect of having a visitor in the office once every few weeks to thin out the piles. I still know where everything is in the mean time, but the thinning opportunities help me feel less out of control.
I was just musing this morning about how since I found out I was ADD I have been fairly liberated. Knowing that "the best way" of doing things is probably not going to work for me. So I just step back and find "my way." I have been much more successful and productive since.
